Did you know…..

* There are between 6000 and 7000 languages in the world - spoken by 7 billion people divided into 189 independent states.

* At least half of the world’s population are bilingual or plurilingual, i.e. they speak two or more languages.

* Bilingualism makes the learning of additional languages easier, enhances the thinking process and fosters contacts with other people and their cultures

* Economically bilingualism and plurilingualism make jobs are more easily available to those who speak several languages

* Multilingual companies have a better competitive edge than monolingual ones.

These are some of the reasons why we are committed to engaging our children with Primary Languages Learning!

Ratho Primary School - Living Case Study, 2014 - 15

Within City of Edinburgh Council we are really keen to involve parents in taking Primary Languages Learning forward.

At Ratho Primary School we have been taking part in a living case study to promote parents working in partnership with the staff and children to learn Modern Languages together.

This page is dedicated to informing parents better and giving them ideas as to how they can support this fantastic initiative and help every child leave school equipped with the skills for learning, life and work they will need for a successful future in a global society.
